Dragon Warriors back on sale!

The pdf of the core rulebook is now available from DriveThruRPG! This is a revised version of the Magnum Opus Press edition, incorporating all the errata.

Next, we’ll be rereleasing the other Magnum Opus books. Part of the delay with the core rulebook was getting all the graphics, fonts and other design elements in one place, and now that we have all those assets, the process of updating the other books should go much faster. At the same time, work on the player’s guide is continuing.

  1. Two things: it looks like you’ve got a problem with the DW logo on the first couple of interior pages; and the Flash preview has left/right pages transposed (because it only shows spreads and you start with page 1, which isn’t part of a spread).

Suggest you delete this comment once you’ve fixed the problems.

Are you still missing any of the original graphics?

  2. First of all, well done guys on bringing DW back to the light of day! Phew – that was a close one, really had me sweating! But i have only one question:

Now that the Dragon Warriors Rulebook is available on DriveThruRPG again, will people who have already purchased it in PDF format be able to update their copy, to get rid of all those pesky errata?

As great a read as it is, its really annoying to have to keep referring to errata sheets for the incorrect stats and other details. I was surprised at how many there were in the original, (almost as if it had only been proof-skimmed before publication). Couldn’t this stuff have at least been amended since first publication, which is much easier to do with the PDF format? (i realise this was Magnum Opus’ responsibility while they retained the license)

Or, will people have to purchase the new, updated copy again to eliminate these mistakes?

Now, I know I’m being something of a perfectionist here; but considering the high quality of the repackaging of the original and the brilliant new material, it was a real shame some of these errata remained. I really enjoyed seeing DW return to print and bought all the books in PDF + print, but i have to say, some of the faithful who have already invested (maybe i’m the only one?), may feel a little put out if they can’t benefit from this latest editorial review?

  3. I just bought the new DW Rulebook from DriveThruRPG. I live in Italy and I discovered DW thanks the Magnum Opus Press edition. I was looking for a simple “old school fashioned” game to play in my original setting, a dark fantasy world similar to medieval Italy. I loved the simple rules and the smoothness of DW. I decided to buy the new Serpent King’s edition for 2 reasons. The first is to support you. The second is to get the edited version with the errata included. I will print the SKG’s edition and I will use it to play my future games.
    Keep up the good work!

    SKG FTW

  5. I have a simple question about the game… keep in mind that I am a newby. Well, some monsters have two or more kind of attacks. For example, let’s take the NARGUT. It have 2 attacks: the acidic bite and the claw. In the description of the beast, it is said that this monster got 4 clawed arms. How it works in combat? Does it attack 2 times each Round (Acidic Bite + Claw)? Or it have to choose which attack to use?
About the claws: it got 4 of them. Can the Nargut use all of them together, or the stats about the claw (d8,5) are inclusive of all 4 claws?
    Thanks for the help!

Maybe post this question over at the Dragwars yahoo group as well……..maybe it’ll distract them from talking about bloody sappers all the time. 😀

  7. Spectrum, all creatures in DW can only ever make one attack per combat round, because like characters, they only get one action per combat round. This keeps things nice and simple — everyone gets one chance to do something, every round. The relevant section is “The Combat Round”, main rulebook p. 71. (Personally, as a GM, I will quite often allow a character to draw their main weapon *and* attack in a round, so long as they’re prepared to drop whatever they’re holding rather than sheathe it, but that’s my house rule rather than an official one.)

A monster with several attack options picks one, and uses it, rather than getting to attack with all of them. Likewise a creature with more than one arm, more than one claw, etc. The only exceptions are stated explicitly in the text for the monster — for example, the Chimera “gets two attacks each Combat Round in addition to constricting with its tail” (Bestiary, p. 31), or the Gorgon’s snake-hair “can also attack…” (p. 35), or the Hydra “will strike out with several of its heads” (p. 38).
