End of year update, 2024

As usual we were a little over-optimistic, but here’s how things stand:

Cursed King
Oh, gosh, why did we ever agree a project with “Cursed” as part of the title! Heh. We have made significant progress but as you might gather this is no longer getting released in October 2024. It is absolutely on the cusp of release, though. Here’s the progress since the last update:
1) Another, hopefully final, pass of proofing completed. I am not quite sure how many times I’ve edited this one, but I believe I have got it consistent with our house style now. Multiple authors, around COVID times, made the process more complex.
2) Layout almost complete. We have a couple of quibbles to go back and forth over re: the amount of art on the project, and might end up commissioning a couple of small pieces of art from one of our usual, rapid-turnaround, regular art contacts. There is a hand-drawn map that I (Ian) need to finish off, hopefully this coming weekend, which should be easy enough to slot in because it’s a full-page piece.
3) And… that’s it really. Once the layout is finished we can send this to DriveThruRPG and get it released, hopefully mid-Jan 2025 now.

Brymstone
I’ve been in conversation with Robert and we have a substantial excerpt from Brymstone, that Brunnhilde is currently assessing, mostly to begin to figure out how much more work it will need. The Brymstone campaign is a legendary one with good reason, and what we’ve seen so far looks incredible — well worth the wait. I hope to be able to offer more news in the new year.

Website
This has had a bit of a re-vamp and an update.

Fan Publication Policy
We are in the process of updating our fan publication policy, in consultation with Dave Morris, to allow fan publications to potentially make a profit. For the moment this will be a couple of unique agreements, one between SKG, Fabled Lands, and Red Ruin, and the other between SKG, Fabled Lands, and a new fan publisher, but the plan is to roll out a fan policy similar to the one that Chaosium uses, that allows third parties to publish Gloranthan material under the Jonstown Compendium banner. Watch this space for more info.

And with that, all that’s left is to wish you a good Yule, happy Solstice, merry Christmas, and/or riotous Saturnalia, depending on what and how you celebrate.

See you in 2025 — Ian
